School of Fabrications

If your interested in learning the basics and technical aspects of off road fabrication, Baker Motorsports offers a fabrication program. A variety of talents are taught in the program from aluminum work to welding techniques. Students select a project of their own to take on to complete by the end of the program. Throughout the program students are shown how to design, cut, weld and construct a variety of off road components. By the end of the program students will have enough experience with fabrication to start their off road career. Also all students are taught the process of race prepping a vehicle. Students will accompany Baker Motorsports to major off road races and learn to be apart of the race pit crew.

During the program students are taught to design shock mounts that can take a beating and be resist to cracks or breaks. The principles of making a strong race vehicle are strongly focused on.

Dimple dying pieces and strengthening cages is taught and explained for building race quality durability in every vehicle.

Notching and grinding skills taught to every student. The importance of having each tube smoothly fitting together for a strong weld is taught with every cage.

Tube Bending and triangulating are important skills taught to each student. Student are taught the principles behind properly building roll cages, engine cages and bed cages.

Shearing and welding with aluminum is taught to all the students. Students are also taught how to form aluminum into custom dashboards, side panels, inner fenders, and custom molds for fiberglass fenders.

Mig and Tig welding are taught and practiced throughout the duration of the program. Students can finally begin welding their own projects when their welds are aircraft grade quality.
